Do you have skills and experience in website management and development?
Would you like to look after the Friends successful database and website?
The Friends of Te Papa are seeking a person with strong skills and experience in WordPress to manage and support the Friends digital presence.
The Friends website manages a wide range of membership matters and is an essential tool in our regular communications with members and the public. Our website enables members to browse informative reviews and articles and discover news about the Friends and Te Papa. Members can easily join or renew their memberships and book for upcoming events on the site, which also holds our membership database.
The role of technical support for the database and website is crucial for our effective interface with the membership and the efficient running of the Friends Office and events programme.
The website and database require ongoing maintenance alongside identifying projects which will improve user experience for our members and staff.
The person we are looking for will be:
- Experienced in developing and using WordPress and WooCommerce or similar platforms with at least 2 years’ experience
- Experienced with database management
- Used to varying workflows and projects
- Able to work with plugins and social media
- Able to work well with website hosts, office administrators and web engineers
- Knowledgeable with Campaign Monitor (desirable)
The time commitment involved will be variable, but you should be accessible and responsive as and when needed in the provision of system support. The role is contractual and will be paid by the hour, with rates to be negotiated. You’ll be expected to be able to hit the ground running with hand overs happening as soon as possible.
The Friends of Te Papa is a charitable Incorporated Society run by a volunteer committee. We employ two office staff who manage the daily affairs and administration of the Society. You will be working directly with the Manager and Friends Office.
