With an estimated quarter of a million negatives, the Spencer Digby / Ronald D. Woolf Collection is a treasure trove of images of faces and moments from Wellington’s past. The collection ranges from the 1930s to the 1980s and includes studio portraits, wedding photographs, and shots from community events like wrestling tournaments and cat shows among many other things.

We are now inviting Expressions of Interest to join the Friends of Te Papa Kaipara and mid-North tour, departing Tuesday 10 October 2023, in association with Claudia Moir of New Zealand Travel Brokers, based in Mangawhai, Northland. On this tour you will see the cultural highlights of this region with visits to the Sculptureum in Matakana, the famous Kauri Museum, the Dargaville Museum, the new multi sensory experience of Manea Footprints of Kupe in Opononi, Footprints Waipoua's Twilight Encounter as well as the amazing Hundertwasser Arts Centre in Whangarei. This tour has been especially designed for Friends of Te Papa and all visits include experienced guides to give you a deeper insight into each place you visit.
