Te Papa Foundation

Te Papa Foundation

Her Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand, the Rt Hon. Dame Patsy Reddy.

The Te Papa Foundation has been established to ensure that Te Papa is provided with resources to maintain the highest of standards of additional curation; help it to thrive; to be rich with content; and to satisfy and stimulate the curiosity of generations to come.

The challenges of operating one of the world’s most popular cultural sites are immense. Te Papa raises nearly 50 percent of its operating revenue by commercial endeavour. The balance comes from direct government funding and local community support. Less than 5 percent of Te Papa’s total expenditure is currently available to build its collection.

Supporting the Foundation through gifting – in amounts big or small – is a tangible way of ensuring Te Papa will continue to grow and flourish.

Her Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand, the Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy GNZM QSO, joint founding patron of the Te Papa Foundation, along with her husband Sir David Gascoigne, who is a noted arts patron and advocate.
