The Friends of Te Papa continue to offer you a varied programme for your enjoyment under the Orange|Karaka traffic light setting.

Red means indoor gathering limits and masks, Orange means masks, and Green means guidance.

Te Papa is following the advice of the New Zealand Government’s
Covid-19 Protection Framework | Te Pou Tarāwaho Ārai Kowheori.

Visiting Te Papa at the Orange|Karaka setting –

  • masks are mandatory while inside the building unless you are dining at one of our cafes.
  • all cafe/exhibitions/stores are open (unless otherwise stated above).
  • hand sanitisers are located through the museum.

Due to the unpredictable nature of Covid-19, we are unable to guarantee that the museum will be open on the day of your planned visit due to potential staff shortages. This also means that we might have to make a last-minute decision on whether we are open or not. We apologise if this causes any inconvenience.
