Keeping you up to date with opportunities in the times of low travel

You will have noticed that since last June we have focussed upon sharing local events and opportunities for our Friends membership. Our two recent tours to Gisborne and Golden Bay will soon be reviewed for you to read about. One of our committee members is working upon establishing more formal relationships between our Friends and those of other galleries and museums within Aotearoa, and as such you may meet a wider group of Friends at some of our future events. We will let you know when we are invited to theirs, as we have had the pleasure of doing in the past. Such opportunities to go beyond our own programmes broadens the scope of what we participate in, and as each institution has its own character we get to benefit from this. The Friends committee will soon be hosting the Friends of Christchurch Art Gallery when they visit the Surrealism exhibition.

Former Victoria University Art History lecturer and tour leader to Italy, Phyllis Mossman will be known to many of you. She offers lecture tours at Club Garibaldi Wellington which allow you to explore the history, art and architecture of Italy while you are unable to do it in person. Our image was supplied by Phyllis, and is from their Winter series, Power and Piety: Italian cities and churches. You can contact Phyllis for details at [email protected]
