This tour will take you behind the scenes to experience Māori taonga close up.
You will visit two collection areas
- Weaponry, food implements and carving, including pounamu
- The textiles collection which holds the largest kakahu (cloaks) collection in the world
Te Papa is internationally recognised for the way it works with the Māori communities in the care of these collections and you will also learn about the cultural protocols and customs of the Māori who are Kaitiaki (cultural guardians) of these collections.
Please read the Māori cultural terms and conditions which apply to this tour.
