Everyday, small actions can make a big difference to the impact we have on our environment.
Te Taiao | Nature celebrates our unique environment and asks us to think more about what actions we can take to create a positive impact. We at the Friends agree with these principles and so have teamed up with the Sustainability Trust to bring Friends members a workshop to create your own unique beeswax wraps to further sustainability in the kitchen.
The session will take place on the weekend, so you can check out Te Taiao Nature before or after the workshop. We’ll kick off with morning tea and hearing from our Te Papa colleague and enthusiastic beekeeper Victoria Leachman on the incredible process that bees go through to create wax and honey and a little bit about beekeeping practices. Then we head into our hands-on, DIY workshops to create the beeswax wraps! Create your own decorative wraps to take away with you to keep your food fresh and to beautify your food storage.
Workshops are designed to get you more hands on in the museum. 3 practical sessions will be held a year covering art, science and museology. These events are exclusive to Friends members. Join today if you’re not a member at a discounted rate and a spot on the workshop!
