In association with the Wellington Council of Faiths we now offer our Members their second fascinating opportunity to visit the temples of Wellington’s principal faiths. The Islam Community invites you to accompany us on a visit to their Masjid Al Ameen (Mosque) at 64 Kenmore Street in Newlands.
‘We aim to provide service to all groups within the community, and to establish a role model Muslim community in New Zealand. The Wellington Muslim community have taken the initiative to enrich the lives of the locals’ and visiting Muslims by identifying the growing needs of the ummah with a visionary view of the future of Muslims in general; by deciding to establish an Islamic Community Centre complex in North Wellington suburbs.’
This series provides us a superb opportunity to discover more about the many faiths held by Wellingtonians, with visits allowing us to learn about the diversity of people in the different places of worship. Each visit will include a short introduction to the key tenets of each faith.
NB: Please wear long sleeves and skirts/pants, and bring a scarf or bandana. Visitors are required to follow protocol at each site of worship – wearing head covering and removing shoes on entry.
