Southern arts and architecture

Thursday 6 October 2016, 7:00 pm - Sunday 9 October 2016, 2:00 pm

$690

Our tour to Dunedin and Oamaru coincides with spring, rhododendrons and the Dunedin Arts Festival. Dunedin and Oamaru are two of the Southern Hemisphere’s best preserved Edwardian and Victorian cities, full of gothic-style architecture and heritage attractions.

Our tour commences early evening on Thursday 6 October and finishes mid-afternoon on Sunday 9 October 2016 and will include a tour of the Dunedin Town Hall, the recently opened Perpetual Guardian Planetarium, tours in art galleries, libraries, and the day in Oamaru includes the Janet Frame house. Some special tours are still in the planning stages and the tour will end with lunch at Larnach Castle.

Dunedin is a long way to go and there is so much to see in the area, you might like time to plan to go for longer and see more, e.g. the Royal Albatross Centre, the Otago Peninsula, the Chinese Garden, Dunedin Railway Station, Taieri Gorge Railway. The hotel has offered additional nights at the group rate negotiated for our tour.

The cost is $690 per person on a room share basis.  This includes three night’s accommodation (an optional single room supplement is available) including breakfast, two dinners, one lunch, and all visits and coach transport during the tour. The cost does not include travel to and from Dunedin.

The tour is scheduled to start at 7pm on Thursday 6 October and end mid-afternoon on Sunday 9 October, in time to make the 4.30pm flight to Wellington. Feel free to ring the Friends’ office (04) 381 7051 for any queries and additional travel information.

We’re now fully booked, but you are welcome to be included on a short waiting list on the chance that places become available.  Just click on the button below and leave your details.
