This is event is now fully booked.

Join a small group of Friends and see treasures up close on this behind-the-scenes experience which takes place at Te Papa’s Tory Street storage facility. Your Te Papa Host gives a brief introduction, before taking you through the natural environment (birds and mammals) and New Zealand history collection rooms. Explore more than 150 years of collections that began when Te Papa’s forerunner, the Colonial Museum, opened in 1865.

Highlights include:
• Endemic birds, as well as a range of wall-mounted domestic and international mammals
• Hearing how the museum decides what to collect today, and how that is different from past collecting practices.

Refreshments will be served after the tour.

A special opportunity to offer your visitors – Te Papa introduces their new offering of behind-the-scenes tours for those over 16 years.  Every Thursday and Friday at 11am,  join a 60 minute tour at Tory Street of the Natural Environment and New Zealand History collections.
