Discover the approach and methodology of how to make a Haast eagle and a full moa skeleton working from the bones upwards with expert sculptor and model maker Jake Yocum. Model making takes many different forms and is an in depth and detailed process. Jake draws from Te Papa’s collection and subject experts, research and imagery, forensic examinations and anatomical analysis to inform the creation of these stunning models. He utilises taxidermy methods ,will work with dozens of different materials and molds and work with digital technology to get the sculptures just right to wow audiences in exhibitions.
