From the Venice Biennale to The Dowse Art Museum — this is the first time the work of Liu Jianhua, one of China’s best known contemporary artists, is being shown in New Zealand.
Liu Jianhua presents two full-gallery installations at The Dowse: Regular Fragile is one of the artist’s signature works of over 1,500 everyday objects cast in white porcelain including teddy bears, hammers and stilettos, and a new work Square (never before shown outside of China) featuring glistening pools of gold-coated porcelain on sheets of steel.
Make your own travel arrangements to the Dowse and meet us in time for our tour at 10.30am. Afterwards you are free to linger in the galleries and lunch at Café Reka.
