In response to popular demand, we are pleased to offer members another opportunity to attend a second series of Joan Costello’s te reo classes.

Joan, who is Te Papa’s Te Reo Kaiako (teacher) designed the course of three one hour sessions to help people to become more familiar with the pronunciation of Māori, and an understanding of Māori protocols.
Joan’s classes are fun and relaxed and you will find she is very encouraging and supportive with helpful tips for saying it right. The classes will cover pronunciation, useful hello and goodbye phrases, and how to introduce yourself in te reo. You will also get an understanding of what is being said in the wider context e.g. New Zealand place names, what you hear on Radio New Zealand or being part of a Māori mihi.
Classes start at 2:30pm on three successive Tuesday afternoons – on the 5th, 12th and 19th of June.
Joan has over 28 years experience as an educator working with people of all ages. For the last 20 years she has taught te reo and tikanga Māori to large Wellington organisations and private clients.
