Arts & Crafts in America

Wednesday 23 October 2013, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$10.00 – $15.00
Wendy Kaplan

Wendy Kaplan

American curator Wendy Kaplan presents a lecture on Arts & Crafts – one of the most significant and far-reaching movements in Western design.

The Arts and Crafts movement transformed American attitudes toward design, the home, and work, emphasising how to make objects and live with them. Decorative objects from the period – an immensely popular era of American art – continue to be much sought after as collectibles.

Wendy is Curator, Decorative Arts and Design, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

She recently curated the exhibition California Design 1930–1965: Living in a modern way at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
