The 2nd in the Friends of Te Papa ‘101’ series we welcome you to explore the culture, history and views of Pride in Aotearoa. A quick fire and fun session with community members, join us to gain a new appreciation for this amazing annual celebration and enjoy a drink of your choice and nibbles.
Every year the LGBTQIA+ community and friends come together to celebrate queer history and culture as well as commemorate past struggles and focus on contemporary issues facing communities today.
In this session we’re joined by diverse community members to talk about the history of Pride in this country and to hear from multiple viewpoints on what Pride means to different parts of the community. Our guest speakers are:
- Will Hansen from Lesbian and Gay Archives of New Zealand (LAGANZ)
- Kate Aschoff from youth organisation InsideOUT
- Sandra Dickson from Te Ohaakii a Hine
- Drew Hadwen from the Wellington Pride Festival
101 sessions are designed to be open, fun and full of visuals, we hope you’ll join us at this fascinating session as part of the Wellington Pride celebrations that are happening from 8th to 24th March .
