Join Prue Donald and Lizzie Bisley as they discuss the creation of A Painter’s Journey – the film that welcomes visitors to the exhibition Rita Angus: New Zealand Modernist | He Ringatoi Hou o Aotearoa.
This immersive film celebrates Rita Angus’s artistic practice by diving into her 1953 painting Central Otago. In this talk, Prue and Lizzie will discuss the inspiration for the film, and the process of making it. From Te Papa’s conservation studios, to the landscapes of Central Otago and the music of Douglas Lilburn, the talk will explore both Angus’s painting, and the process of filmmaking.
Prue Donald is Te Papa’s digital producer, creating visitor experiences through digital imagery and audio. She has a background in television production and filmmaking.
Lizzie Bisley is Te Papa’s Curator Modern Art. She curated the exhibition Rita Angus: New Zealand Modernist.
