Mary O’Keeffe is a professional archaeologist who has been lurking about digging around under Wellington for about 30 years. In this walk and talk she’ll take you to some of the inner-city sites
she’s worked on, tell the stories of the sites, and talk about what this archaeological data can tell us about the development of this lovely city we call home.
Join us for a walk through Wellington, from Te Papa to Old Government Buildings, talking about archaeological projects and finds, and what they can tell us about our city.
Mary O’Keefe has been running her own consultancy, Heritage Solutions, for about 30 years. Prior to this she has worked for Historic Places Trust and DoC. She is also the Central Filekeeper for the NZ Archaeological Association, managing its database of recorded archaeological sites – comprising over 78,000 sites, this is NZ’s biggest voluntary database.
