Tour: The art and artefacts of militarism in the Pacific (ii)

Tuesday 27 April 2021, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$20.00

Join us for a Members Only exclusive tour Back of House with Sean Mallon (Senior Curator Pacific Histories and Cultures)  as he tells us about the art and artefacts of militarism in the Pacific.

From battle shields of the Papua New Guinea Highlands, to full suits of Kiribati armour; from throwing clubs to shark tooth swords, join curators for a rare behind the scenes tour of the Pacific Cultures collections and get up close to the art and artefacts relating to militarism in the Pacific.

Sean Mallon specialises in the social and cultural history of Pacific peoples in New Zealand. He is the author of Tatau: A History of Sāmoan Tattooing (2017) with Sébastien Galliot, and is currently researching issues relating to the agency and activism of Pacific peoples in museums.
