Terry Stringer – exclusive preview

Friday 1 November 2013, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

You are invited to join with members of Friends of Pataka to an exclusive preview of Face/Space, an exhibition of bronze sculpture by Terry Stringer.  Those who came on our sculpture tour to Auckland four years ago, will remember the inspiring and enjoyable visit to Terry Stringer’s Zealandia Sculpture Garden.

Terry Stringer is widely recognised as a leading New Zealand sculptor and a key figure in the history of art in New Zealand. His work is sited in many public places throughout New Zealand. These include The Risen Christ in Christchurch’s Cathedral Square (now in storage), his Mountain Fountain, in the forecourt of Auckland’s Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and, most recently, Dance to the Music of Time, a gateway sculpture for the City of Nelson.

His exhibition Face/Space, opening at Pataka on 2 November, will be the first time this internationally celebrated artist has exhibited in Porirua. The exhibition features bronze sculptures beginning with still life works from the early 1980’s to some of his recent ‘walk through’ free standing shrines.

Terry Stringer has scheduled 2 days to install the exhibition at Pataka.  We ask you to be understanding if there a still a few things not quite finished before the preview commences at 4pm.

Please RSVP by using the ‘book now’ button.
