Slice of Heaven: The Curators’ Cut

Thursday 19 January 2017, 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

$20

Closing on Monday 23 January 2017, Slice of Heaven: 20th Century Aotearoa is the first big exhibition to close to make way for the significant museum renewal project.  Slice of Heaven was a bold exhibition to capture the ‘recent’ and dramatic changes in the 20th century and to raise the question whether New Zealand really is a ‘slice of heaven’.

Join us to celebrate this moment and hear from the History Team about the thinking and planning behind developing an exhibition.  History Curators will present, and reminisce, on their favourite collection item, topics left out and why, and Head of History Bronwyn Labrum will discuss what a new history exhibition might look like and the thinking behind it.

Kirstie Ross, Curator of Modern New Zealand History presents a souvenir of Slice of Heaven20 essential objects from the exhibition – an amusing and diverse selection and beguiling reminders of the century’s defining moments.
