Behind the scenes at the Royal Academy

Monday 1 May 2017, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Members only. Free to attend.

Te Papa’s Art Renewal project is underway with building to commence in May. Wanting to keep you informed on progress we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to hear from one of the international experts visiting Te Papa as part of the project.

Andrea Tarsia, Head of Exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts in London is visiting Te Papa to share his experiences with Te Papa’s art team.

Like Te Papa, the Royal Academy is currently in a dynamic phase, transforming the RA in time for their 250th birthday in 2018.  Alongside an expanded programme of world-class exhibitions, their building redevelopment will reveal the elements that make the RA unique – their historic collection, the work of the artists and architects who run the RA, and the art school at the heart of the campus.

The RA has an incredibly rich history in commissioning art and involving artists in decision making. Andre will bring his unique insights to the team.

This will be a fabulous opportunity to hear and see more about this amazing institution.

Members only.  The event is free to attend but booking is essential to ensure your place.
