Join us by the sea in Lyall Bay to visit three studio/galleries offering a great variety of beautiful art and craft.

We begin with a visit to the Jane Blackmore Gallery/Studio where practising artist Jane Blackmore works and displays her paintings. Jane has over 20 years’ experience as an artist and is primarily inspired by the stunning and singular vistas of the Wellington Hills and harbour. In an age where speed and instant gratification seem to permeate every corner of our lives, Jane’s work offers a space for thoughtful reflection. Her paintings, whether flowers, abstractions or landscapes, are predominantly about stopping and just being in the moment. Jane will talk about her work and artistic vision and you will be free to browse.
A few steps towards the beach, and we arrive at Sue Dasler’s ceramic gallery, which shares space with REAL Aotearoa Gallery, owned by Jane Fahy.
Sue Dasler’s work is shown throughout New Zealand in numerous galleries. All work is wheel thrown with form and function as the primary focus. Sue’s inspirations come from the functionality of simple forms, patterns from our environment and culture, the immediacy of making from throwing on the wheel and the intimate relationships we developed with the domestic ware in our homes.

REAL is a gallery store selling work from a diverse range of New Zealand artists including glass, jewellery, wood and iconic artworks that express our country, people, places and passions. By working directly with the artists, owner Jane Fahy knows each object’s history from initial concept to final design.
This will be an exciting morning enjoying wonderful art work, with the added opportunity for you to do some Christmas shopping either for yourself, your friends or family.
The three galleries are located in Kingsford Smith Drive (between Bunnings and the beach) and have flat access. Some seating is available in the Blackmore Gallery.
Following our visit to the studio and galleries, join us for a coffee or lunch at the Centennial Café conveniently located between the two galleries.
Parking is available on Kingsford Smith Drive. The galleries are about a 3-minute walk from the Airport Retail Park stop on the Number 3 (Lyall Bay/Rongotai) bus.
