Day Trip – Kāpiti Coast Art Trail Guided Tour

Join Artist & Arts Educator, Stephanie Woodman on a carefully curated Friends experience not to be missed – the Kāpiti Coast Art Trail!
Discover surprises and delights with a wonderland of artist studios, galleries, and shared spaces. 
We will visit a gorgeous array of notable artists’ studios, meandering through Raumati, Paraparaumu, Waikanae & Te Horo, taking in a variety of mediums
from paint and drawing to ceramics and textiles, with some lovely food & coffee stops along the way!


Itinerary:

8:30 am: Pick up from Te Papa

8:45 am: Pick up from Wellington Train Station – Platform 9

9:00 am: Drive from Wellington to Raumati South

10:00 am: Raumati South – the group will be divided into two and rotate between two studios:

  • Philip Markham (realistic painting & drawing)
  • Michelle Connolly (Komo Clay – contemporary ceramics & pottery)

11:00 am: Take in the view for morning tea at Waterfront Bar & Kitchen, Raumati

11:30 am: Paraparaumu Beach – the group will be divided into three and rotate between three studios:

  • Jenny & Tanya Shearer (Art Deco by the Sea ceramics & pottery)
  • Hannah Shand (drawing realistic birds / prints)
  • Elisabeth Vullings (architectural paintings & drawings)

1:00 pm:  Lunch Break at 2 Fat Chefs, Paraparaumu Beach

2:00 pm: Waikanae and Te Horo – the group will be divided into three and rotate between three studios:

  • Ruth Cooper (Imaginative landscapes)
  • Sara Boland (textile artist)
  • The Kilns at Te Horo (pottery)

3:30: Drive to Raumati South

4:00 pm: Refreshment Break, Raumati South

4:15 pm: Drive back to Wellington

5:15 pm: Drop off at Wellington Train Station

5:30 pm: Drop off at Te Papa

 

What to bring:

  • Money for morning tea & lunch
  • Water bottle & snacks, your own cut lunch if you prefer not to buy it
  • Clothing suitable for any weather eventuality – rain jacket, layers, sun hat and sunblock
  • Walking shoes

 

Group size is capped at 36.

 


Stephanie Woodman is a Wellington based artist and tutor with 27 years experience in tutoring adults and children. Formerly working as an Art Consultant she has tutored in schools throughout New Zealand, working with teachers and students. Never saying no to a project has given her a huge skill set with many strings to her bow.
Her own personal artwork has evolved over time as she has experimented and explored her preferred medium of acrylics. Painting is an ongoing passion and pursuit with her style forever evolving. She has had shows in her home town of Wellington, also Auckland, Kapiti and Hamilton. She has created many private commissions for clients and has just completed a project for the German Embassy in Wellington.
