Peter McLeavey and {Suite}

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED

Our local gallery visit in May will be to two Cuba Street galleries. We will start at McLeavey Gallery, 147 Cuba Street, to see an exhibition of new paintings by Matt Hunt. At the heart of Matt’s work is the condition of humanity; the concerns, the joy, the utopian dreams through to the nightmarish hells. His rich symbolism is deeply personal but at the same time universal.

We will then stroll along to Suite Gallery, 241 Cuba Street, for a very different exhibition. Sculptor Anton Parsons is best known in Wellington for his large work “Invisible City” on the corner of Lambton Quay and Grey Street. There is a smaller version of this sculpture in Suite’s courtyard and more of Anton’s other sculptures will also be on display. The gallery has also just established a “living museum” for the work of photographer Ans Westra. We will have the opportunity to visit this before its official opening the following day.

There will be time for a relaxing cup of coffee either between the two gallery visits or afterwards.

Numbers are limited.  Registration required. To register, use the ‘Book now’ button or phone the office on (04) 381 7051.
