Catwalk to Cover

Thursday 2 February 2017, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

$35

Join us on a bus tour to Expressions in Upper Hutt to hear Te Papa’s Senior History Curator Claire Regnault and Textile Conservator Anne Peranteau talk about the fashion exhibition Catwalk to Cover: a front row seat.

A series of candid photographs from top catwalk photographers and clothes by leading national and international designers, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Karl Lagerfeld, and Alexander McQueen, capture the dynamism, creativity and glamour that epitomize the runway fashion show experience.

All the elements that make up the catwalk shows are portrayed; backstage, front row, catwalk and street style.  You will see a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into the creative world of the fashion shows of London, Paris, Milan and New York.

Also on display are several Versace dresses from Te Papa’s collection.  Anne Peranteau prepared these gowns for display and you can read her blog here.

Catwalk to Cover comes from The Fashion and Textile Museum, London: a cutting edge centre for contemporary fashion.  The exhibition is proudly supported by Forsyth Barr and with funding from the Wellington Regional Amenities Fund.
