Tim Christie is a New Zealand-based multi-disciplinary artist. His art practice emerged from a series of explorations where he examined the intersection between geometric design and figurative form. Starting with pure digital art his practice now includes original paintings, lightworks, weavings and immersive experiences. His unique style has been described as a modern synthesis of Op Art, Pop Art, Street Art and Geometric Expressionism.

Tim is particularly drawn to the void between abstract and representational art and the mesmerising optical effects within that space. Tim has experienced rapid success in New
Zealand and abroad, where he won an award with the UK’s largest fine art group. Tim has shown in a number of international destinations including Sydney, Hong Kong, London, Manchester, Chester, Edinburgh, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Los Angeles. He recently opened his own gallery in central Wellington which doubles as a yoga studio. He is also represented by galleries in New Zealand and overseas.
Join Tim as he speaks to us about his art and creative process.Tim will share his story from childhood and education to his career in graphic design to becoming a successful full-time artist. He’ll explain how he first came up with the idea for digital artworks in Scotland, how he gained momentum early on in New Zealand with strong buyer interest and how he came to exhibit internationally.
He’ll also discuss how he now manages a very busy art practice operating out of Yogallery on Ghuznee St in Wellington, a hybrid space of art and yoga that he created with his wife Katie.
