You will travel by bus to Masterton, where, at Aratoi, Wairarapa Museum of Art and History, curator Haami Te Whaiti will lead a tour of Wairarapa Whakaputa Mohio – a fascinating introduction to the region’s rich history.
There’s a rare chance to see Masonic regalia and explore the Freemasons’ little-known ceremonies in an exhibition called Square & Compasses, and a behind-the-scenes tour with collection manager Bronwyn Reid. Then it’s homeward bound, with time for you to buy a late lunch and enjoy a spot of gallery hopping or window shopping in historic Greytown.
This is a free tour, supported by the Wellington Regional Amenities Fund, and the Friends of Te Papa. The tour will depart from, and return to Te Papa.
