A Special Friends Members Invitation – Ocean Census | NIWA Media Event

Monday 11 March, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Friends of Te Papa is pleased to offer you a unique opportunity to join a media briefing event!

Ocean Census, in conjunction with NIWA warmly invite you to join us at the Michael Fowler Centre at 10:00 am on Monday, 11 March to hear from the Te Papa science team that has made a series of interesting finds in the underexplored Bounty Trough off New Zealand.

Te Papa Curators Dr Thomas Linley, Andrew Stewart and Kerry Walton are soon to return from a three-week expedition to New Zealand’s unexplored Bounty Trough. Funded by Ocean Census and in partnership with NIWA, the crew have been recording their findings and sending info back to shore.

This event will run in conjunction with a taxonomic workshop where Ocean Census and partners NIWA and Te Papa, will work up more than 1,700 samples from their 21-day voyage along the length of the Bounty Trough.

You will hear from experts across a range of taxa and see some of the samples and data gathered.  Please feel free to bring along colleagues with an interest in species discovery.

Professor Alex Rogers, Ocean Census Science Director, looks forward to hosting you.

To Register your attendance please RSVP to [email protected]
