**Sold Out**Go behind the scenes with curators Katie Cooper and Stephanie Gibson to see some of the highlights of Te Papa’s textile and dress collections.
From a bright blue 1890s wedding dress with huge leg of mutton sleeves, to a throw away cellulose dress given out by the Campbell’s Soup Company in the 1960s, the collections represent both mass produced fashion and bespoke one-off garments.
This tour will give an insight into some of the objects and the work curators and collection managers do to care for them.
Katie Cooper, Curator NZ Histories and Cultures. Katie’s research interest is the material culture of domestic life, focusing in particular on nineteenth-century New Zealand. She is also engaged in ongoing research into the social and cultural history of rural New Zealand.
Stephanie Gibson, Curator New Zealand Histories and Cultures. Stephanie’s research interests include the material and visual culture of protest and activism, as well as everyday life in Aotearoa New Zealand.
