Join Sydney Shep, The Printer, at Wai-te-ata Press: Te Whare Tā o Wai-te-ata, Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, (Rankine Brown Building | University Library, Kelburn Campus), for a tour and demonstration of our amazing letterpress and text technologies studio. View the only working collection of Chinese full-form heritage type in the southern hemisphere, plus our collection of unique printing presses, wood and metal types, and other typographic curiosities. Sydney is Reader in Book History whose research focuses on the interdisciplinary study of transnational and cross-cultural book history and print culture in the contexts of the history of empire, history of technology, and the history of reading. She is also a practising letterpress printer, exhibiting book artist, and designer bookbinder who undertakes creative research commissions at Wai-te-ata Press.
